It’s been almost a year to the day that I was contacted by Cedar Fort Publishing to write a book of hair tutorials. I can’t believe how time has flown and now our book, Amazing Hairstyles: from Easy to Elegant is available on Amazon, at Barnes and Noble & other book stores. To actually hold our book in our hands is totally a dream come true! ** And we want to help a few of you hold our book too – so keep reading to learn more about upcoming giveaways! **
I know we’ve been raving about and touting our book since it came out, but obviously I’m a bit partial! Well, now you don’t have to just take our word for it.
Over the last couple weeks, our blog tour has been going on & 15+ different blogs have reviewed our book. Some of the bloggers I know, some are ones that contacted the publisher to write a review, but I was ecstatic to find that everyone of them had good things to say about our book and some even shared pictures of their recreations of our styles. We thought we’d share some of what they had to say, as well as a few of their pictures.
Montserrat of Cranial Hiccups is a mother of ten children – 7 of them are girls. Now that’s a ton of hair to do! Here’s some of what she said, and you can read her whole review and see a few more pictures she posted here.
“We enjoy looking around the internet for hairdo ideas but it can be hard when you actually try to do them. It’s not easy to follow instructions when you have to sit in front of a computer without a mirror or take the laptop in to the bathroom so you do have a mirror. We usually try to print instructions off but you can’t do that with a video tutorial …. We’ve quite enjoyed trying most of the hairstyles in this book over the past few weeks….
With so many girls it can be hard to come up with new styles so they don’t all “match” (we are way past the matching phase at our house). With Christmas coming up this would be a great gift for any teen who enjoys doing their hair or for moms with girls or even tweens or are interested in learning how to do their own hair.”

“As a mom of three girls who never willingly let me do their hair, I feel like an amateur. But, with Becky’s step-by-step instruction–including pictures–I was able to try out several of these styles. It looked like I totally knew what I was doing! I was pleasantly surprised.”

“This was such a fabulous book … I liked that I could look at how to do something really basic and then could also look at a style where they used a braid or two in a different way. I’ve always struggled a little with the Fish Braid, but now I’ve got it down. Some of the hairstyles don’t work for my daughter or I because she has shorter hair and mine is thinner, but a lot of them did and were fun to play around with. If you need a handy, in-one-place, detailed instruction book for braiding and updo’s then I would highly recommend Amazing Hairstyles! It’s definitely a book I would gift as well.”

Team Hoopes blog has 3 daughters and here’s a snipit from her review:
“I like how the book is divided into sections and it’s easy to see how to finish off the look. Plus, Becky gives great tips about good supplies to have on hand and how to make little changes if you want to. We liked how each step of the hairstyle had a picture to go with it. Easy for me to follow, and fun for my daughter to see how much we had left until we were done!”

“My mom was GREAT about doing our hair in fun ways all the time….but my girls and I have never gotten into the habit of doing their hair! Well that is about to change! I loved this book. It reminded me of so many of the classic ways I learned how to do hair growing up, and THEN building on the basics and creating eye catching, lovely, hair style!”

“The title says it all – these are so many amazing hairstyles in this book! I have tried a few of them and hope to try more of them soon! The author is detailed in her directions and uses clear pictures to depict what each step should look like. The directions were easy to follow and I found the pictures to be very helpful.”

Getting Your Read On blog shared this:
“I think it’s important to note first that I am not a very talented hair stylist. I have two girls and really, I have only mastered the very basics. I have always wanted to try some fancier things though and this book gave me just the nudge and help that I needed … I love the easy to understand instructions and the pictures too. When I am learning to do things, it’s so much easier for me to have a book or actual written instructions in front of me. With this book, I don’t have to pause or stop a video and I don’t have to take my computer or tablet into the bathroom. I like that my girls can read me these instructions as I go too.”

“… The minute my girls got their hands on this book, I never saw it again. They use it all the time and already know how to fish braid, french braid, and do all these funky twists.”

And last but not least, my dear friend Jenn from Girly Do’s reviewed our book as well. It meant so much to have her take the time to do this, especially since she was recovering from carpal tunnel surgery. Here’s a snipit of what she had to say:
“What made me know for a fact that this book would be so successful was when I showed it to Beans, my daughter. She looked at it and was able to flip through the pages and see the styles come together. She could point out exactly the styles she wanted to try. It was so much more personal to her. My daughter got excited that she could take the book into her room and try the styles out on her friends by herself. She loves it. It is so convenient.”
Jenn was even was able to recreate one of our styles post surgery! She’s amazing! For her full review go here.

Thank you SO much to all the bloggers that took the time to review our book & share it with our readers. We’re glad everyone found it helpful & loved it as much as we do.
We also had our first book signing on Saturday at the Barnes & Noble in Orem, Utah. We had a fabulous time. We were able to do a ton of people’s hair – from just toddler age, clear up to grandmas! (That actually surprised me that a few older ladies wanted me to do their hair! It was cute!) We had a great time signing books, and even Hannah from @hannah_hairstyles on Instagram took time out of her busy schedule to come say hi – despite the horrific weather outside! It’s truly been a fabulous month! With Pinners Conference, appearing on Fresh Living, speaking at Brigham Young University, our blog tour, and the book signing last weekend, we’ve definitely not had time to get bored!
Thanks again to everyone that continues to follow our blog and who has bought our book. You’ll find from all the reviews that people love our book and find it would make a fabulous gift. Click HERE to head to Giveaway #1. OR Click here to buy yours today!
