Being that tomorrow is Thanksgiving, I thought this would be a fun one to post. This is rather quick & easy. And jazzes a regular ol’ bun up and makes it fun!
Make a ponytail in the middle of the back of the head. Braid or twist it (which ever you prefer – I did a regular 3 strand braid.) Don’t braid it all the way down to the very end. Leave a couple inches for the “tail.”
Wrap it around as you would a normal bun, but do it tight (or loose if you’re working with a lot of hair) enough that when you are making the last wrap the “tail” is going to end up pointing upwards. Secure bun with bobby pins.
Once it’s all fastened with bobby pins the end of the braid should be up like this:
Then take your curling iron or flat iron & curl the ends toward you. Curl them just ever so slightly so they still stand up but are bent at the top. Spray them, or put some product in the hair once you’ve curled it and then piece the hair out and pull it so it “sprays” out around the top of the bun & kind of looks like a fan.
Note: Be sure not to put any bobby pins at the very top of the bun, or you won’t be able to spread the hair around on the top of the bun.
A view from the side.
Because her hair is lighter on the ends, it’s hard to see against the background, but hopefully you can see the hair coming up above her head.
There you have it: A basic bun with a little turkey tail!
Or if you are wanting something even more festive – so you can add color to your turkey tail with clips – go here for the baby version of the peacock’s tail –
Or the “big girl” version of the Peacock’s Tail go here
HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE! HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
