I’m sure there is a “real” name for this, but since it is done like a rope/twist braid and a French braid (adding in from each side) that’s what I’m calling this one! I’d call it a French twist, but anything and everything I looked at with that name didn’t resemble what I did here – so oh well! I figured it’d be easiest to show you in video format how to do this one – so hopefully I make sense by what I show you. Ignore Bug’s “tired” comments, the nice “backdrop” for this one and the messiness of the hair! Remember I never claimed to be professional! 🙂

The key to this is I twist both sections to the right — and when you add hair to the right section you pass the new hair you are bringing in under the twist and keep twisting to the right. When you add hair to the left section you pull it over or on top of the twist to incorporate it into the twist and then continue twisting to the right. Then once the you’ve added hair to both sides you cross them over each other to the left … and then begin again adding hair to both sides again.
Once you get to the nape of the neck and there is no more hair to add in, just continue doing a regular rope/twist braid down to the bottom of the hair like this:
I decided I didn’t want it just hanging straight down so I twisted the bottom portion into a bun. These little flowers I’ve just glued onto baby claw clips and I used the bottom one to hold the bun in place.
Sorry the flash had a mind of its own when I was doing these. This is a bit closer up view for ya.
This didn’t end out being as neat and pristine as I’d hoped, but you get the idea. It seems like on days I’ve got “big ideas” Bug doesn’t want to sit still and be as patient as I’d like. She also wanted 2 flowers in this day also, so her wish was my command! 🙂
Oh, and this was the “day after hair.” The twist made nice soft waves that looked really pretty. I just ended out putting it in a half pony and curling the ends under and took advantage of the wave the next day.
