This is a quick and easy style that is great for keeping hair out of the eyes but lets most of the hair be down at the same time. It will work in just about any length of hair and would be great for a toddler even.
This style kind of builds on our “Knotty Flower Girl Hairstyle” I did not long after I started our blog, and I’ve seen something similar on another blog, but their image is no longer.
It helps to have the hair on top of the head nice and damp in this style to avoid fly-aways in the knots.
Step 1 – Part out a big rectangular shape of hair on the top of the head
It’s hard to see in the pictures, but I did this on a slight angle – from each temple back to the crown. I just didn’t make it straight back, I parted it more to the left. Also – Secure the remaining hair that is hanging down in back with an elastic or clip to keep it out of the way.
Step 2 – Part out a small rectangular section on the right side
Step 3 – Divide rectangular section in half so it’s 2 squares
Step 4 – Make a knot with the front section
This is made by just wrapping the hair around your fingers to make a circle, and passing the end of the hair through the middle.
Gently ease the knot down so you can cinch it down as close to the scalp as possible. It helps to hold onto the knotted part with one hand, and pull on the tail so you can hold it down toward the scalp as it tightens up.
Step 5 – Bring the tail from the knot back and join it to the remaining square of hair & make a small ponytailStep 6 – Part out another rectangular section of hair
Step 7 – Repeat steps 3-5 making another knot and ponytail
Step 8 – Repeat the knot and ponytail steps to the last section on the left
That’s basically it! You could make as many of these from ear to ear as you want. You could braid those 3 ponytails or bring everything back into your favorite kind of bun. There are so many ways you could finish off this style!
FINISHED!
Her natural curl/wave that we discovered years ago and that came through even more when we cut her hair still peeks through even when I think her hair is totally straight!
