Something with a Scarf – Day 7

Ok, for starters, I soooo did not want to post this — especially for the last day of all this fun. I wanted to go out with a bang – and this isn’t the bang I had wanted. I had some other stuff in mind, but timing wise and due to some unforeseen circumstances things didn’t work out, and so I’m kinda bummed to end this wonderful week with this post. I’m almost embarrassed, but I couldn’t leave ya’ll hanging, and I still have a fun giveaway … so hopefully you won’t be too disappointed. (I know – with my depressing opening, you already are, huh?! Sorry!)

I got this idea from a magazine I’d looked in months back when I was getting my hair done. Some model had something similar and so I thought … hey! But well – we all know – nothing looks the same in real life as it does in a magazine!

I picked up this scarf at a friends jewelery party and thought I’d experiment with it. I folded the width in half and placed it on the top of her head & then used bobby pins to secure it.

Then I folded the front of the scarf back towards me to cover up the bobby pins.

Then I took the scarf and brought it down the side of her head to use it as the middle strand of a regular old braid. So I had 2 strands of hair and the scarf as my 3rd piece.

I braided the scarf into each side of her hair like this and just clamped it off with a clip temporarily.

Then I pulled her hair from the back into a ponytail.

I crossed the braids over the top of the ponytail – covering up the rubber band. I did this wrap kind of like what I did in this old post with the rope braid wrapped ponytail.I think her pony tail looks just like that — a horses tail that is a show horse or something & is all fancied up … not my fav. Dangit!She liked feeling like she had “extra long hair” though, so it was a hit with her. And, the scarf did stay put like this, so I guess that’s a plus. Sorry, this is so all over the place. It’s after 2 a.m. — I stayed up late playing tonight and am paying for it now! But it was worth it! 🙂 A girl’s gotta have a little fun once and a while, right?

So since I wasn’t happy with that one, today I decided to try something else with another scarf I got…. once again, getting my hair done recently I saw this in a magazine. It was supposedly how what’s her name on Fools Gold wore a scarf in hair at some point in the movie. So this is what I did.

This is a fairly long and wide scarf. I made the scarf in quarters so it wouldn’t be so thick on the sides of Bug’s head. Put the middle of the scarf starting underneath the hair instead of on top like you would normally.

Bring it up on top & tie it like you’d start to tie your shoe.

Then take the ends and bring them back down underneath the hair. Pulling her hair up out of the way helped at this point.Then I tied it in a fairly tight knot.

This is the view from on top. If you had a thinner scarf it will for sure look a bit different – maybe more like a twist in the middle than this did.From behind. Once again, she liked the fringe hanging out from beneath her hair.Don’t mind her bloodshot eyes. She had pink eye a week ago and the one side of her eye is bloodshot still. Might be seeing the doc again soon.The verdict — I like the look of this one better. I didn’t really secure it but I’m sure bobby pins would work again just fine. This is one that would probably work nicely on your tweens or even you. I’ve even seen pix online with girls wearing them like hippy’s or “pirates” across their forehead … that or around the neck as a scarf is to be worn, so I guess this can be very versatile!
