This style is a slightly different version we did on Bug years ago called Single Knots Criss Cross. But with the length of Bee’s hair right now, we can get some awfully cute buns so we opted to finish the style off a little different and make a video showing how it’s done. We also thought it needed a fun name – so “Hot Cross Buns” it is!
Here’s our video to see how it’s done. Below you’ll find step-by-step instructions and more pictures of the final hairstyle!
Step 1 – Make a center part from forehead to nape of the neck
Step 2 – On the right side, part hair from center part dow to the front of the ear
Step 3 – Divide this hair in half and make a half knot – like tying your shoe
Step 4 – Pull it tight and secure with a claw clip temporarily
Step 5 – Part out hair right behind the first section from the center part to the tip of the ear
Step 6 – Divide it in half and repeat Steps 3 & 4
Step 7 – On the left side, repeat Steps 2-6 so you have 2 half knots on both sides of the head
Step 8 – Cross tails of knots over the top of the head to create X’s over the center part
Step 9 – Gather all hair on the left side into a ponytail and secure with an ponytail holder
Carefully add the tails from the two right knots and the tails from the two left knots into the ponytail.
Step 10 – Repeat on the right side creating another ponytail
Step 11 – Carefully remove claw clips from the center of the knots
Step 12 – Braid ponytails and wrap them into buns. Secure with bobby pins as needed.
FINISHED!
And one last view from the back. She likes to see how far she can tip her head back when I ask her to look at the ceiling for a picture! You can just barely see her nose peeking out! 🙂
