As things online are continually changing, that means, as a blogger, I too must change along with it. To be honest, I fight change sometimes, especially changes in technology! But change is good (usually) and I need to learn to embrace it better! My dad always told me that the only thing constant in life is change. So good or bad, it’s true. And because of that I guess that means we’ve got a little bit of blogging business to update you on! Don’t worry — nothing is really “changing” here on our blog … I’ve just had to change and I want to keep you informed!
That being said, depending on how you follow our blog, we just wanted to make sure you know about all “the options” out there for you. If you follow via Google Friend Connect – whether you get the most recent updates from blogs you follow on your Blogger dashboard or via Google Reader, you are probably aware that is all going bye-bye on July 1st. If not, you can read about it here. I’ve never really liked Google Reader but have always gotten my updates on my Blogger dashboard (even though I no longer use that platform!)
So what does that mean for you if you use Google Reader? Sadly, you’re going to have to find someplace else to get your blog feeds. I recommend Bloglovin’. I’ve only been using it for a short time but feel it’s pretty user friendly and I like how it “looks and feels!” You do have to “sign up” but it’s free and all your blogs you follow should automatically transfer over so that is awesome. So if you haven’t figured out what you’re going to do yet I’d love it if you “followed” me on Bloglovin’ by clicking the button below:
Feedly.com is another one from which you can get the most recent updates from your blogs you follow. I don’t have any experience with them, but it’s similar to Bloglovin’ from what I understand. But regardless of what you switch to, just know that it’s inevitable that Google Reader is going away and you’ll need to find a new “home!”
And these days I’ve got a love/hate relationship with Facebook. I realize the majority of our readers are on Facebook and they claim they didn’t change anything months ago — but I don’t quite believe that. I know there are so many of you that don’t get our updates on a regular basis. Frustrates me to no end. Of course, we love it if you follow us there too because it’s a great way to interact & be social – but depending on the day it just might be a bit less effective.
Because Facebook can’t be counted on 100% these days, we’ve “changed” and added a few other ways you can interact with us and get our updates. I realize not all of these are for everyone, but we want you to know where else you can find us! In case you don’t follow us on Facebook, head over to our page by clicking HERE so you can “like” us!
So besides being able to find us on Facebook and Bloglovin’ we caved & are now on Instagram. If you’ve got a smart phone you can find us at “babesinhairlandblog.” We’ve had some issues claiming our name – so for now make sure “blog” is tacked on the end of our name. We’re sharing pictures that you won’t always see on Facebook, so if you’re curious about what we’re up to during the day, you’ll want to be sure to follow us HERE!
Are you tired yet?! 🙂 We are also on Google+ …. Google what?! Yes, Google Plus (aka g+). It’s still a growing choice for social media, but things aren’t filtered out like Facebook. Go HERE to add us to your circles. That’s another reason we are on Instagram. If you follow us — you see us! That’s how it should be!!
Of course, we’ve been on Pinterest for quite a while now, so that should come as no surprise! If you aren’t on Pinterest yet and need an invite let us know. You can see all the other things we love besides hair if you follow us there. We’ve recently added several new boards so check them out! Go HERE to see tons of things we’ve pinned that aren’t about hair!
And last but not least, we’ve been on YouTube for years. We’ve got all our videos linked here on our blog up in our Video Tab, but you can just head straight to our channel by clicking HERE if you want.
Sorry for the long informational post – but we want you, our fabulous readers, to stay informed and up to date on how you see our most recent hairstyles and more! We hope you don’t find change as hard as! And regardless of how you choose to “follow” us – we just want you to know how much we appreciate you. We love hearing from you & so we love the fact that you’re willing to “get social” with us! Let us know if you have any questions!
So do you like change? Just when I feel like I’m getting the hang of things here online, they change stuff! What means of social media do you use? Do you just use one or two, or use anything and everything out there?
