It’s no secret how much we love Curlformers around here and I know we’ve been posting styles using them forever. I’ve had so many requests for how we put them in and any tips or tricks we might have when we use them so I finally was able to finish putting together videos to show you what we do. Sorry they are a bit long, but hopefully they’ll help you a bit. It usually takes me about 10-15 minutes to put these in my girlies hair but since I was talking and explaining stuff I spliced things together a bit so you didn’t have to see all of that.
The 1st video showing us putting them in after her bath and the 2nd one is the results when we pull them out along with pics of several of our favorite Curlformer styles! Let me know if you have any more questions! And for all our posts on Curlformers — Q&A, styles, etc., go HERE! Enjoy!
And here’s the 2nd video:
Hope these help & let me know what you think!

I love that she helps you! Great video. I am interested in curlformers but holy cow, they are pricey! We’d only need one pack for my daughter, but for me I’d need like 4!
The Mom says
Ya, they are a bit spendy, but oh so worth it! Unless you a major amount of hair, most adult heads can get away with one of their salon packages that has like 40 curlers in it. If you end out buying them you’ll have to let me know!
Cyndi says
Oh my goodness I need these! I have the hardest time curling my hair, and I can only image how hard it will be to do Addies!

I’m a natural curly girl, but sometimes I think it would be fun to have different curls to play with. My natural curls are springy and fun, but tiny. I have used foam rollers and I agree, they’re awful, but how do the curl formers not smoosh when you sleep on them? They look so pliable that it would almost seem like you would end up crushing them in your sleep. I also have long layers in the back that are probably longer then 22 inches in places. Have you ever seen anyone put a long curler on their hair, then overlap a short one on the end to cover the rest of the hair length? Would it work, do you think?
The Mom says
Sandy – I honestly don’t know how they “work” when it comes to the squish factor – but they do. If you watch both our videos, you’ll see that it doesn’t matter that they were laid on – the curls turn out great. They do have a bit of “give” to them, but it doesn’t change how the curls turn out. We’ve actually done an experiment with putting 2 Curlformers end to end for extra long hair that I still need to post, so yes it does work. Another trick I do is I pull them down the hair shaft a bit on the hair in the back & underneath since lots of that hair is covered by hair on top. Despite it defeating the “no heat curl” thing, I’ve also just used my curling iron on the “tails” that that have hung out the end of the Curlformers. hth

we LOVE the curlformers … however … when we do them … we get the weird parts at the top where we parted the hair to put it in the curlformer and it’s hard to figure out how to do their hair after that … help? please?
The Mom says
One of the things I try do when using them is sort of “plan” what I’m going to do with their hair before putting them in, so if needed I can sort of part their hair accordingly. The other thought I have is maybe try using more Curlformers so you don’t have such big sections parted out for each individual curl. That way you won’t have things sectioning off as bad. If you haven’t “pieced out” the curls like I show in our 2nd video (making each curl into many little ones) you might try that too. Then you can move & arrange the curls where you want as you are dividing them all up. hth

Oh these look amazing. I hope even my hair might work with these. in the back of my head when foam curling or headband curling. it tends to stay damp. and so then curls dont set in. I hope in the future that i can buy some of these, well not some but LOTS! so i can have tons of fun with these. 🙂 with my hair as well as my 6 yr old girls hair. 🙂 so glad i found your Blog/website. 🙂 Have a great day

thanks so much for the wonderful videos. My 7 yr old loves to have curly hair but I was never satisfied with the foam rollers. We have also tried the technique where you twist sections of the hair and then pin that into a swirly circle for overnight. We like those results, but it can be a bit hit or miss depending on how soon you do them before bed and how much moving she does in the bed at night.
I ordered these after seeing your video and doing some research and we are THRILLED with the ease of use and results 🙂

I’m sooo glad you love your Curlformers as much as we do! They really are amazing, huh?! If you ever want, I’d love to see pictures! Feel free to e-mail them to me or to post them on our FB wall!

Thanks for sharing these videos! My 6 & 7 year old girls have been begging for a perm lately and my hairdresser suggested these instead or foam rollers. Are the curlformers easier than rollers? I’ve got two heads to do!
The Mom says
I would totally go for these over a perm. Or at least get a perm using these! I know they can do that, I’ve just never seen it done. I don’t know if I could really compare putting in Curlformers to regular foam rollers. It maybe is a bit more involved because of the hook & such – but the results are 100 times better because they turn out great every time. With regular rollers you never know what kind of curl you’ll get because it all depends on how you wrapped the hair. I’m all for Curlformers because of the fabulous curls in the end!

I rewatched to make sure I didn’t miss anything. Still hurts like a mother. I guess it’s just my extra sensitive head.
The price we pay for beauty…
The Mom says
Sorry Angenette. If you’re doing everything right then, ya, I guess it must be your sensitive head. So sorry!
