Over the several years I’ve been blogging, I’ve posted hundreds of hair tutorials as well as countless tips and secrets on how to do hair. I’ve shared things that work well for us, as well as things that don’t. I’ve also introduced you to our favorite hair accessories and hair tools that help make our “hair doing life” easier. I’ve tried to give my honest & unbiased opinion about lots of hair things over the years along with sharing thousands of pictures of my girls. I know when I’ve followed a blog long enough, oddly, I start to feel as if I almost know the person and can totally relate to them because I read every.single.one.of. their.posts!
Over the past several months I’ve been feeling like I maybe haven’t been able to express myself fully because we tend to be “just about hair”, (which isn’t bad!) but well, believe it or not … there is so much more to me than just hair tutorials! I also started wondering if you, my fabulous readers, feel like you really “know” me, like I feel I know some of my favorite bloggers.
I love music – especially piano. I’ve played the piano since I was five and started teaching piano when I was 14 years old, and 20+ years later I still do. I think I’ve mentioned it here before, but did you know I suffer from chronic migraines? For the past couple years I’ve dealt with 4-5 migraines a week, until recently with the help of physical therapy I only get a couple a month. Did you know I love to cook & bake? I actually am a pretty good cake decorator too! I love craft & DIY sites – although doing those things aren’t necessarily my forte. I also love to read. Did you know I love to travel? I’ve been to more countries than states! I speak German. I consider myself very money savvy and yes, I use coupons! I’ve been married for 12 years to an amazingly funny and fabulous guy who puts up with a lot of estrogen in his house! And I’m sure, due to the title of my post, you probably saw this one coming … I’m also a Mormon (aka a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.)
I know I’ve casually mentioned “church things” a time or two with Goose and Bug getting baptized, as well as when I shared my horrendous missionary hair cut… but I’ve never really opened up and said much more than that. And it seems these days there has been a bit of a spotlight on Mormon’s – or maybe you haven’t noticed? Either way – I got to thinking … if I have shared all of these great things that make our “hair life” better and easier, then why haven’t I shared the thing that makes my life better and that helps me through each day with you? And with that I mean, of course, what I believe. For those of you that are here strictly for hair related things, I suppose there is no need for you to read on – but if you’re curious about what makes me “tick” and how the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ brings such peace and happiness to me and my family, helps me be a better mom, wife and person I’d love it if you’d keep reading!
While all these thoughts had been swimming in my head, I was contacted by Mariel from “Or So She Says” to join an amazing group of Mormon bloggers to share our thoughts and feelings on “Why we are Mormon.” In all the years I’ve been blogging I know the question has been posed as to why there are so many Mormon bloggers out there. I can’t speak for everyone, but as members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, we are encouraged to develop our talents, and blogging has been a creative outlet for me and my way to share what I love to do! This video clip on “creating” puts it into better words than I can as to why I blog:
Beyond wondering why there are so many Mormon bloggers, it is also asked, ‘Why are they Mormon? Why is anyone Mormon?’ So, I (and many of the Internets Mormon mommy bloggers) are going to give you the opportunity to find out. Because it involves our intimate thoughts and personal stories, we are going to keep it available only to those who truly want to know. I’ve read each and every bloggers thoughts and I was deeply touched by each and every one of them. Our beliefs are very special to us and we would like them to be respected and in turn we promise to do the same for you.
Here’s how it works:
If you are genuinely interested in learning more about many of your favorite bloggers and why we are Mormon, head up to my “Contact|Advertise” tab at the top of my blog.
There is a little contact form with a pull down menu. Choose the “Book of Mormon Packet Request” option and then leave me your name & address in the “Your comments” box.
Here’s what you’ll receive:
I will personally send you a free packet filled with the personal thoughts of the following “Mormon Mommy Bloggers”:
Melanie ~ Sugardoodle
Kierste ~ Brown Paper Packages
Shelley ~ How Does She?
Along with the blogger packet, you will find our favorite scriptures, the ones that have personally touched our lives, along with a free Book of Mormon. Why the Book of Mormon too? Well, it would be impossible to really understand us without it. It is a major part of our religion, our lives…and part of WHY we are Mormon. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It is the ancient records of prophets who lived in the Americas before, during and after Christ’s time on earth. I read from it each and every day and by so doing it brings into my life a peace that I find hard to even describe. So, there you have it. Between the blogger’s thoughts and the Book of Mormon, I think you’ll get a fairly good idea about where we’re coming from.
Packages will be sent out during the last week of every month. Oh, and if you’re worried that I’ll use your info to send other Mormons to stalk you, I won’t. Nope, you get the packet, Book of Mormon, and that’s it. The Book of Mormon is available in over 100 languages, so if you want something other than English, be sure to specify! So there you have it. There are no strings attached. And I’m sorry we won’t even charge you $9.99 for S&H, and we won’t double your order or send you a PillowPet! 🙂
Also, I’m not accepting comments on this post. We’re exited to be able to share with you, we are passionate about our beliefs, and that’s all there is to say. It’s not open to debate, drama, or even support. Sorry this post got a bit longer than I expected! Remember, if you’re interested in receiving a package hit our “Contact|Advertise” tab up on the top right of our blog (or click HERE) and send me your info! Thanks. 🙂
P.S. If you are an LDS blogger interested in participating in this program, just shoot me a message via my contact form! Thanks.
