This definitely is not one of our regular hair posts – which I’m sure you’ve already gathered from the name of our post! That’s me and my cute family in the picture above. They are my everything and I love them so much. Almost exactly 2 years ago I wrote a very personal post regarding something that is very near and dear to my heart. I opened up about my beliefs and that I belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. (aka Mormons) This is also one of those kind of posts. Sharing “personal” things besides hair tends to be a bit scary sometimes so I hope you’ll hang in there as I do so!
I feel the same as I did back when I wrote my post 2 years ago, and my testimony in what I believe grows stronger each day. Our family is currently going through some extremely hard times – especially with my husbands employment. I’m sure some of you have been there dealing with financial issues or employment issues. It causes extreme stress and hardship on a family and a marriage. But the only way I (we) have been able to get through these past many months is the knowledge that I have a Father in Heaven who knows us by name and He knows what is best for us. Going through the “refiners fire” isn’t usually easy, but I know God’s hand is in every aspect of our lives. Yours and ours. I believe in the power of prayer and I know He hears and answers us. I believe in eternal families – that things don’t just end once we die. I don’t know where I would be if I didn’t know I had a Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ who died for us. He knows what I am going through – and that brings me peace and comfort during these hard times. But the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ doesn’t only help me in my hard times. It is always there. It is part of who I am. It is why I do the things I do each day. It makes me a better mother, wife and person. It brings peace to my soul. It provides hope and happiness to our family as we live in a world that is inundated with constant chaos and confusion.
If you are wondering why the big push to find out more about “Mormons” I’d invite you to watch the video below (or click here to read ) to maybe understand a little bit more as to why we like to share our beliefs with people and not just keep them to ourselves. We are regular people like you and we are just trying to share goodness with the world. The story David A. Bednar shares about his son in the video below, is especially relative to why I’ve joined forces with all these other fabulous bloggers to try get the word out about this new film “Meet the Mormons.” (Read on to find out more about the film!)

I am very happy for you and proud of you, it’s hard to step out there and share your beliefs with people. In my opinion, I think if you have your faith, no matter what religion you are, you believe in God, and that he is there guiding you, your life will be greater. I am Catholic, but I have family that is Mormon, and Lutheran and Evangelical Free and to have community there to help you emotionally and spiritually is wonderful. I am Happy that you have the support you need, in your faith, and I will add you to my prayers that God guides you and your family to the financial stability and emotional support that you need. You have been so wonderful to me over the last few years, and You and your family deserve so much happiness!

Thank you for your kind words Amy, and I appreciate you keeping us in your prayers! 🙂

It takes a lot of courage to share this part of your life. I have struggled as an adult with feeling like I belong to the church. My family and I recently moved to Utah and my husband was just baptized. Last night I just posted on my blog about his baptism but I almost didn’t do it because I am afraid of negative words. I am always afraid to share more about the church because I am just starting to grow a testimony. I hope your message touches many people. We can’t wait to watch the film! I know Heavenly Father will guide your family in your hard times. Keep your head up.
PS- we love your hairstyles and it has been fun watching your daughters grow up via pictures.

Thanks so much for commenting Brooke. I’m so glad to hear you posted about your husbands baptism (congrats to him btw) – even though it was scary. It’s hard putting yourself out there like that isn’t it? In the end I’ve found we usually get more positive responses than negative. If we can just touch one persons life, or make a small difference somewhere, that is all that matters. Thanks for your kind words! If your blog is public, I’d love to read about your husbands baptism. Good luck to you and your family as you continue to grow in the gospel. Baby steps! 🙂 Hugs to you!

Thank you Becky for posting this about your faith! I was truly touched while reading about your feelings for our Savior, Jesus Christ, and grateful that you are so courageous in sharing your testimony with us all. It gave me strength in my own trials. Thank you so much!
