We hope everyone had a wonderful long weekend! Today’s tutorial was inspired by our Ladder Braid tutorial we did a couple years ago. But this time I made it just a little bit more intricate and did it with a round or 3D 4 strand braid. I really want to try it with a regular or flat 4 strand braid one of these days. I’ll have to post pictures if I do. Depending on how comfortable you are with 4 strand braids will determine on how easy you find this hairstyle. The concept is the same as a ladder braid, it’s just the handling of the 4 strands that could possibly be a bit challenging.
While I filmed the video tutorial on Bug, I obviously also did the hairstyle later on Goose to see if you could see the “ladder” a bit better. It seems to always be a bit harder to see the detail in certain hairstyles in Bug’s darker hair.
Step 1 – Make a ponytail
Step 2 – Section out a small amount of hair on the right side of the ponytail
Step 3 – Divide that section of hair into 4 even sections
Step 4 – Place all 4 sections in your left hand between your fingers
Step 5 – Pass the 2nd and 4th section of hair to your right hand so they become the 1st & 2nd position
Step 6 – Turn your left hand over so the remaining 2 sections twist
Step 7 – Pass those sections to your right hand so they become the 3rd and 4th position
Step 8 – Grab a small section of hair from the left of the ponytail and add it to the far left section in your right hand
Step 9 – Pass the 2nd and 4th section of hair back to your left hand so they become the 1st and 2nd position
Step 10 – Turn your right hand over so the remaining 2 sections twist
Step 11 – Pass those sections back to your left hand so they become the 3rd and 4th position. Do not add hair when holding hair in your left hand
Step 12 – Repeat steps 5-11 until your braid reaches the desired length
Step 13 – Secure the end with an elastic
FINISHED!
