So I’ve been scratching my head (pun intended! 😉 ) on how to exactly use these witch fingers ever since I bought them for one of the girl’s witch costumes several years ago. Halloween has always snuck up too quickly for me to remember to use them, until this year!
There’s nothing overly complicated about this style, but you will need some ugly green witch fingers. The ones I used, I bought years ago, likely at a Halloween store, but honestly I can’t remember. However, they aren’t as cool as THESE awesome glow in the dark witch fingers which would be so fun since they glow in the dark! This style is great if you’re not one to really dress up, but want to do a little something for a party or while you’re out at night!
Step 1- Part hair from ear to ear and make a half pony and secure with a clear elastic
Step 2 – Make a rope twist in the ponytail all the way to the end and secure the end with a clear elastic
Watch our Rope Twist Video if you need help with those! You can also just do a regular braid if it’s easier for you.
Step 3 – Wrap the twist up into a bun and secure with bobby pins as needed
Step 4 – Prep your witch fingers
As mentioned, you can buy glow in the dark witch fingers HERE. Once you have them, on the back of the finger, carefully poke a small hole about half way down the back of the finger. My husband has a counter sink or leather punch that we used to poke the hole in ours. Then push a hair pin or bobby pin through the hole so half of it is inside the witch finger, and half of it is on the back of the witch finger.
Step 5 – Carefully place the fingers so the base of the finger gets hidden under the bun
Place the witch fingers to look like 4 fingers on top and the thumb off on the left side of the bun.
FINISHED!
She loved playing with the other half of the set of fingers. You could even try a bun on each side of the head (kind of like Princes Leia) and then put fingers around each bun, but depending on the size of head you’re working on, it might be a bit much! 🙂

The witch hand bun was the most original thing I saw today. Loved it!
