It’s the first day back to school for Goose and Bug today, so it’s awfully quiet around here! We had a great summer, and hope that you did as well. One of the wonderful things that happened during the summer break was Bug got baptized. You may remember when I posted about Goose getting baptized a couple years ago, and for me it seems like yesterday! Bug turned 8 this summer, and chose to be baptized as well. It was a beautiful day & we thought we’d share a few of the pictures. In our church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, when you are baptized, you are completely immersed in the water, so it’s helpful for the girls hair to be somewhat contained, so we kept it fairly simple like when Goose was baptized.
We divided the hair in half up front & French braided it, then pulled the braids back into a ponytail. Then we made our bun for shorter hair that we shared in THIS post.
Here Bug is with the girls on her special day. Can’t tell she’s excited can you?! She got baptized in the sweet little dress my mom made for me when I was baptized, and Goose wore it as well. Kind of makes for some fun memories!
Here it is after she got dried off and changed. We just squeezed the water out of her bun and patted it dry a bit up front & that was it. We added a flower and fluffed the little “tufts” of hair around it and you would have never known she’d been under the water!
There were a couple other girls that were also baptized that day and they both had French braids in too! So it seemed that braids are really the way to go to ensure their hair stays put and looks great after as well.
A few weeks before she was baptized we went and had her pictures taken and we’d used Curlformers in her hair for these. It was a bit breezy so it was hard to get her hair to stay put & not look crazy. But these are a few of my favorites! We bought her beautiful dress from White Elegance.
And this was my favorite one that we had printed on her announcement/invitation. Can’t believe how fast she’s growing up!
Anyway, thanks for letting us share a bit of Bug’s special day with you! For all the different baptism hairstyles we’ve done, you can check them out HERE. Have a great day!

I remember when I was baptized, a lifetime ago in the mid 1970’s, there was a girl with waist length hair that had to be dunked numerous times due to floating hair. My three girls all wore french braids when they got baptized.
Lovely hair and how sweet to have the same dress you were baptized in, your daughters will have beautiful memories of such a special day.
My final one to be baptized won’t be in french braids, I think he may object (if he even had enough hair!) Hee!

How fun! My oldest just got baptized this summer as well, but I didn’t have to worry about hair. Thank you for all of your tutorials.

We baptized our daughter last weekend and she loved the hairstyle we used. We used your uneven rope braids and followed it with a topsy tail bun we’d seen on another site. She wanted to practice her uneven braids all the time leading up to the big day…I think it is just her favorite hairstyle right now!

My daughter was just baptized at the beginning of the month. We used Goose’s baptism hairdo and it stayed in perfectly after she got out of the water. Thanks so much for all your great hair ideas!!

That is neat that your Bug and my Belle are the same age and both got baptized this summer. A little friend of mine in the neighborhood was also baptized the same time, and she was wearing the same gorgeous dress Bug is wearing here. Congratulations!
