Knotted Braid Pullback

This pretty style is quite simple & resembles our Twisted Knot Hairstyle I did several months back.  It’s a great one when you are wanting to get the hair out of your face but is just a bit fancier than two braids joined in the middle on the back of your head.

Step 1 – Part the hair

You can part your hair however you like to get the 2 sections of hair on either side of the head.  We did an off-center part and then parted down to the ears.

Step 2 – Braid

On both sides, braid the hair that you’ve parted out in front of the ear.  Temporarily secure the ends of each braid.  You could give this a messier look by doing much looser, flat pancake like braids if you want.

 Step 3 – Pull the braids back so they meet in the middle

 Step 4 – Cross the braids

 Step 5 – Make a half knot

Just like you’re going to start tying your shoe – I passed the left braid over the right braid and then tucked it under the right braid, pulling the left braid back over the top.  You are not going to make a full square knot here — just half of one.

Step 6 – Secure the knot with a rubber band

You could stop here, but we took it a bit further!

 Step 7 – Loosen the braided knot

I wanted to loosen or  “mess” up the braid of the knot, so I gently pulled on the plaits a bit to make it messier.

Step 8  – Wrap the rubber band

I didn’t want to put a flower or bow in or it would have covered up our fun little knot, so I covered up the rubber band by wrapping it with some of her hair like I showed in our post HERE.  Then I curled the ends of her hair ever so slightly with my flat iron.
