Thanks to everyone who is playing along for “Just Wondering Wednesday!” If you don’t know what I’m talking about – go HERE to find out!
This hairdo is sort of a combo of several techniques – rope braids, 2 strand twists, and a turkey/ballerina bun, and it looked so cute on Bee!
Part the hair down the middle and then from ear to ear.
On the right side of the head make a triangular part and secure it with a rubber band to make a small ponytail.
Make a rope braid/twist/corkscrew – go HERE to watch my video if you don’t know how. Secure your rope braid with a rubber band at the end.
With the remaining hair on the right side, do a 2 stranded twist. Some people call these a French twist. Either way – it’s the same thing I did on my bangs in THIS video.
Once you reach the ear and run out of hair to add (don’t add hair from behind the ear) – continue twisting the hair down to the end – doing a rope braid until you reach the end. Secure it with a rubber band.
Take the rope braid and cross it over the 2 stranded twists. Twist them together to form a hawser braid. See my video HERE if you don’t remember these.
Continue twisting them together until you reach the end. Secure both twists together at the bottom with a rubber band. (You can remove the 2 rubber bands from the individual ones now that they are twisted into one!)
Repeat on the left side of the head and join the 2 twists together to form another hawser braid.
Once you’ve finished on both sides and secured both hawser braids with rubber bands, take the remaining hair in back & make a pony tail.
Join the 2 hawser braids back into the ponytail with another small rubber band. You can skip this step if you want & join them in when you first make the ponytail in back. I just get better results if I join them after wards. Once they are secure in the ponytail remove the rubber bands at the ends of the hawser braids.
At this point you can finish it off any way you like. You could curl the ponytail, do a messy bun, or whatever. I’d never really tried to put Bee’s hair into a “regular” bun yet so I did another twist braid/corkscrew in the ponytail.
So I made a little ballerina bun – with a bit of wispy turkey tail on top! Secure the bun with a few bobby pins.
Add a little bow under the bun & your good to go.
Don’t forget I’ll be announcing the “Just Wondering Wednesday” winner tomorrow! See you then. 🙂
