I got this beautiful flower from Flowerz in Her Hair, and a few other pretty flowers & bows. We just love this one especially since Spring is finally showing it’s little face around our neck of the woods.
But first I’ll show you our quick hairdo – part #1. I started by making a diagonal part from Bug’s right temple clear down to her left ear.
Then I secured it with a rubber band to some hair from the nape of her neck. Some have called these “Barbie bangs” and I’ve seen these in lots of updo’s in magazines and such. This is also what I did a while back in THIS post to make things stay nice looking up front when wearing a headband. You can either rat the hair a little bit to give it a bit more of a “thick” voluminous look, or just slick it down like I did.Branching off the part you’ve already made, do the same thing to the right side of her head & part down to her ear. Secure the hair in the same spot underneath the rest of the hair. This is what the parting looked like from above. I kind of made the hair combed towards the back have a bit of a “V” look to it.Once I’d gotten the front slicked down & secured, I did a simple 1/2 pony in back. I ratted her hair a bit up on her crown to give it a tiny bit of height & boof! I didn’t want this to look “too mature” for her age, but I didn’t want it to look like a simple 1/2 pony either. Then I used the little bobby pin locking technique making a bunch of x’s to secure her hair across the back of her head. Then I simply covered up all the bobby pins with the big beautiful flower. I curled the ends a little with my flat iron & that’s it. Come back tomorrow for version #2 of this hairdo! If you want a bit higher poof but don’t want to rat it as much, once you’ve secured the back of the hair with bobby pins, simply stick the end of your rat tail comb and tug upwards a bit in small sections to loosen things up & it should give you a bit poofier look.Oh, and now onto the info for our giveaway (but a little funny thing first.) I just had to share this hilarious picture of my very patient & wonderful brother-in-law Mike. Back in March at our family birthday party we had for Goose, the girls were being extremely silly with Mike, as they always tend to be, and they decided he needed a bit of dressing up in his “hair” (or lack thereof!) They went and grabbed a few different bows from my room & ironically this was the 1st one they put on. It’s from Flowerz in Her Hair. And because of her excellent non-slip grip she puts in all her clips, it actually was able to grip his tiny peach fuzz on top of his head and stay there. This may look like it was just sat on his head, but it really was grabbing his little hairs! I called him tonight to ask if it’d be ok to post this picture & he assured me he was secure in his baldness & he was ok with me putting this on the blog! So thanks Mike for humoring me — as well as putting up with my girls! So as you can see, that non-slip grip really helps and she puts them on every clip you order for no extra cost. Excellent!
Oh, and here is a view from the front of Bug’s do. It looks a little lopsided, only because of a cowlick she has on the one side, that tends to make things appear that way. Even when I try make up for it on the other side of her head, the cowlick likes to do it’s own thing. Oh well, it looked cute all the same!
