I realize this totally isn’t a Halloween hairstyle, but if you’re looking for one, be sure to check all our fun & “spooky” Halloween hairstyles and ideas HERE.
This is actually one of my all time favorite & easy updo’s that looks much harder than it really is. It comes from our 2011 archives and I’ve always meant to make a video of this. After doing our last tutorial using a feather braid, I remembered I had yet to make a video for this, so I finally got around to it! You can check out both the picture tutorials from our archives HERE & HERE.
When I did this style years ago, I used a 1/2 inch curling iron for the curls & I’m not sure which one I like better.
The looser curl from today’s video makes it seem a bit more “mature” or something to me! But it’s nice to see the variety of looks you can get with this style just by changing the size of curls or even by just pulling them up more on the bun leaving less down, as shown above. You can totally “pretty” this style up even more by adding accessories or some hair pins with some bling on them (like above.)
What do you think? Which one do you like better? The styles from our archives, or today’s with looser curls!? Don’t forget to share & click on the social media buttons below!

Thanks so much!

I used this idea on my niece for a dance last year. I did a half up-do by doing 3 little feather buns across the top of her head kinda like a headband. Then, I curled the back of the hair that was left down. It was so pretty with all the curls cascading down from the top.
Thanks for all of the super fun ideas!

That sounds so pretty! I might just have to try that. Love that you “thought outside of the box” and used a technique to make your own pretty style!

by no means am i trying to complain but do you mind making more hairstyles without curls, i especially like your buns. i love the ones with curls bot my daughters hair just won’t curl! your sock idea works great but sometimes we can’t do that. thanks so much for doing so much for our heads of hair! 🙂

Thank you for always taking the time to comment. I’m sorry you weren’t loving this style due to the curls, but I’ve got to say, if you look at my hairstyle gallery ( http://babesinhairland.com/hairstyle-gallery/) the majority of my styles do not involve curls at all. In fact, the last style I posted that had any curls in it was clear back in May, and that was using Curlformers and the one prior to that was back in the summer of 2012 – so I really don’t do a ton with curls! My thought would be if your daughter’s hair doesn’t hold curls then maybe pass on that style or try doing something a little different with the style instead of curls. Feel free to browse our hair gallery that I linked above and you can pick & choose from there, which ones will work best for your daughter’s hair. Obviously everything we do will not work for every person due to hair type, length etc.!
