This weekend was quite a special one here at our house. As I mentioned recently, Goose was going to be baptized, and Saturday was her special day. So I thought I’d share what we ended out doing for her actual baptism, as well as for church yesterday.
This first pic is what we did yesterday – and I’ll get to that in a second, but first to the actual baptism day hair …. **Update – if you want the tutorial for this style, go HERE **
I’ve got to apologize, because I was so nervous and excited for her, that I didn’t take any pictures exactly from behind before she was baptized, and the pictures I did get aren’t the greatest because the lighting at the church wasn’t the greatest & my flash kept going off!
I’d initially planned on just doing some pull through’s and a ponytail or braid in the back. But in the end I parted her hair from ear to ear, and did 2 braids on the left side of her head, and one on right side. Then I pulled them back into a ponytail and made “Almost a Bun.”
When someone in our religion is baptized they are completely immersed in water – and everything must be covered by water – so I wanted something that was going to stay put really well because I didn’t want a pony tail or anything floating up out of the water. Plus, you don’t really have time after wards to re-do their hair! I figured I’d have to hurry and redo the braid in the “bun” and bobby pin it back up — but I did nothing but really squeeze the bun with her towel, and fluff the “tail” of the bun up a bit. Then I hurried and stuck a few of the hair pin flowers I’d made and we were good to go. I was really happy with the results.
She’d started to put her coat on as we were leaving the building here, so it’d rubbed a bit on her hair and made a bunch of fly away’s in these pictures – but all in all, it really held up fabulously, considering she’d just been completely dunked in the water!
And then yesterday for church, this is what we did in her hair. If you want a tutorial on this, let me know, because again, I was just caught up in the moment and didn’t think to take pictures as I went. I guess it’s kind of a combo of THIS old hairdo, and Jenn’s Love Knot. I then stuck our hair pin flowers a little off set from each other down the back of it to add a little extra bling. I didn’t want anything too majorly fancy, because her dress is so simple yet elegant, I was wanting the same look with her hair. Beautiful – yet not over stated. Of course, being biased, she looked like an angel! It almost brought me to tears seeing her like this!
Anyway, the weekend was simply wonderful, and she looked just beautiful. Her beautiful dress was picked out from White Elegance. They had so many pretty dresses, it was hard picking out just one!
Now I can breathe again and get back to the daily grind. I don’t know if that really excites me – but life goes on! Thanks for letting me share a little of our special day with you!
