My house is slowly coming together, but things are still crazy & I’ve got a ton of boxes to unpack. It’ll be like getting Christmas early I guess, right? Anyway, if posts are slow in coming, know it’s because I’ve still got a ton to catch up on now that we finally have our carpet. It’s exciting yet I’m dreading it because I almost don’t know where to start. Plus, tomorrow morning my husband is having carpel tunnel surgery & so now I get to take care of a 4th “kid” for a while. So please have patience with me if you’ve e-mailed w/questions and stuff. I haven’t forgotten about you.
Anywho … I’ve been going back through my pictures and realized I have many old do’s that I never posted, so some of these may not be anything earth shattering, but I need to get them out of my “in box.”
This do was inspired by the Queen of Knots over at Hair 4 My Princess. She’s got all kinds of fun styles with knots. I had a neighbor ask me a couple months back to do her 3 girls hair for a family wedding. Her youngest is the same age as Bug, so I was trying to come up with some “flower girl” type hair styles. Or ones that could be dressed up with flowers. So I thought putting some knots with flowers in between would be one option. I didn’t end out doing this on my neighbor, but this was my experiment on Bug.
Divide the hair into 5 sections – making pony tails in each section.
Then begin to make your knot. Loop the hair around (remember if you have it damp or have pomade or some product in it – the knots look a lot more tidy.)
Pull it through.
Push it down so the knot sits on the head, and then secure with a rubber band. Repeat to all the pony tails so you have sort of a crown of knots.
I kind of got the middle section a bit bigger than the rest so the knot is a bit bigger – that bugged!
You can stop here, and curl the ends like I did – giving them each a bit of curl or wave.
This day she certainly would have been happy with me stopping here – but nope, I wanted flowers. This is where our problem came in . . .
Yes, I know – the flowers are not the same … this was our problem. I have a lot of little white rosettes that I glued to mini claw clips, but when I tried to put those on both sides of the middle knot she started crying saying they hurt her head. No matter how I positioned them, it just made things worse. So you get daisy’s and little roses! Just anchor the flowers in between the knots kind of hiding the parts.
By this point, she was not going to smile for the camera, so here’s a view from the top. Looking at it now because that center knot is fairly large and shows the most – it looks like eyes and a nose or something — shoot! Oh well, the flowers really did “pretty” up the crown of knots and would look lovely for any special occasion or event where flowers can be worn in the hair!
