First I just wanted to remind everyone not to forget to go enter the fabulous giveaway we're hosting for your chance to win $25 to spend at Stylish Mode on some beautiful headbands. Go check it out HERE! I realized it'd been ages since I did a Hawser braid and since you make them using rope/twist braids I thought it'd be fun to try it out using my new & fun variation the uneven rope/twist braid. You really only need to know how to do those 2 things, so if you don't, or need a refresher, go ... continue reading...

Uneven Rope/Twist Braid Style & Video
I figured since I'd done uneven 3 strand braids, why not try it with rope braids? And once again, I think I came out with something that looks pretty cool in the end! The concept is not rocket science - if you can do a regular rope/twist braid you can do this altered version of it. It's just using a small and a large section of hair. If you don't know how to do a basic rope braid, you can view our video HERE. But here is the video with our new way of doing them: So hopefully you get the ... continue reading...
Uneven Braid & Rope/Twist Braids
I've had family in town and so I haven't been able to do much blogging - so I'm sorry! Summer always proves to be busy too I guess! I've got several new do's but haven't uploaded them, so this is one I did randomly towards the end of school because it was quick and easy. We were on our way out the door (as you probably can tell from the pix) so hopefully you get what I did despite not having step-by-step pictures. Part the hair from ear to ear like you're going to make a 1/2 pony. Then divide ... continue reading...
Rope/Twist Braid Video – Started w/o a Rubberband
I had an e-mail from "Curlygirz" this week asking about a rope/twist braid (whatever you call them at your house!) She asked a question that I'd never had before. Now, I'm sure most of you know how to do these by now & I know there are several other blogs out there that have a video of these but for some this may still be helpful -- because the rope/twist braid isn't started from a rubberband. Curlygirz said she had done this hairdo on one of her DD's ... but she couldn't figure out how ... continue reading...
Rope/Twist Braid – French Style
I'm sure there is a "real" name for this, but since it is done like a rope/twist braid and a French braid (adding in from each side) that's what I'm calling this one! I'd call it a French twist, but anything and everything I looked at with that name didn't resemble what I did here - so oh well! I figured it'd be easiest to show you in video format how to do this one - so hopefully I make sense by what I show you. Ignore Bug's "tired" comments, the nice "backdrop" for this one and the messiness ... continue reading...
Rope/Twist Braid Switchback
Straight part vs. wavy switchback part This is a do that we've really come to like a lot. I've done it a couple different times and so if the part is different in some of the pictures or the flowers differ, it's because I've taken pictures along the way of all of them. This puts a little different look to your typical "Heidi" hairdo of braids across the top of the head. Begin by making a part. I set mine off to the side, but you could do yours in the middle. Do it straight, zig zag, or ... continue reading...
