Something I thought worth mentioning is how we dry the girls hair. If you’ve been around long enough here at BIH you know I don’t wash the girls hair every day. That also means that I’m not drying their hair every day because I don’t want to use excessive heat on their hair. Some of you may prefer to let your hair or your dd’s hair air dry – which is great too. Depending on time I let that happen too and just finish drying it with our hair dryer before bed. I find that if I let my girls go to hair with wet hair or damp hair it is a HUGE rats nest in the morning.
One thing my sister taught me, who is the actual hair professional, is it’s not a real good idea to dry your hair pointing the hair dryer up – against the direction the hair grows.
If you tend to do this & notice your hair or your dd’s looking like it’s got a ton of fly away’s or it looks “endy” once it’s dry – this may be part of the reason. If you are blowing the air up the shaft of the hair instead of down it’s going to give you a different result all together.
So be sure to aim the nozzle of your hair dryer down in the direction you are drying. I find the girls hair looks so much shinier and smooth when it is all dry.
Usually at bed/bath time we are running around crazy trying to get everyone done before it gets too late. Somehow we happened to have some extra time the other night & the girls were being silly and wanting to see who’s hair was the longest. I rarely have them “lined up” next to each other to be able to tell and their hair is up a lot too – so it was fun to see. We thought we’d share! It’s crazy how fast Goose’s hair grows because she cut it off just before we started this blog & now it’s almost as long as Bug’s!
If Bug were taller sitting next to Goose you’d be able to see that their hair is almost the same length. Goose just has much thicker hair & Bug’s is getting wavier under there still! And then there’s Bee – our little toe head! Seeing them all lined up like this makes me realize it’s been a while since I last trimmed their hair. Add that to my “to-do list!”
Anyway – hope the hair drying tip helps some of you. Try it & see if you notice a difference.
