Over the years we haven't shared a lot of "messy or loose" styles on our blog because the girls have been younger, and they aren't really conducive to wearing to school and they tend not to hold up well for recess and sports. But I'm really loving today's style because it's one that you can adjust the amount of "messiness" that goes into it, and still get that cool Boho look. Here's our quick video showing how it's done, or we've got step-by-step instructions below the video you can also ... continue reading...

Uneven French Rope Twists
Years ago we posted our Uneven Rope Braid/Twist tutorial and I've always loved the unique look they have. Much like an uneven 3 strand braid, it's awesome to just change one little thing about a basic hair technique to get such a cool and different look. Once again, we've taken a few basic techniques and joined them together to create a beautiful hairstyle. Step 1 – Make off center part on the right side of the head, then part from ear to ear Step 2 – On the left side, part out a small ... continue reading...
4 Strand Braid with a Twist
It's been a week since we turned our manuscript into the publisher and I've spent the last several days trying to catch up on things that were neglected over the past several months. I'm still so far behind, but it's nice to be done with that huge project! So this week we've put a "twist" on a regular 4 strand braid. Or I guess I should say a twist IN a regular 4 strand braid! If you need a refresher on how to make a 4 strand braid you can watch our 4 strand braid video. Or ... continue reading...
Twisted Braids
The name of this style says it all. That doesn't mean these are rope braids or twists -- they are literally twisted braids! And this is a simple way to change up a regular braid. I did this on Bee last summer and never posted it - maybe because I thought it was too simple -- I'm not really sure! But regardless, there is nothing complex about this one - it's pretty and easy all the same! Step 1 - Part hair down the middle (or off center) Step 2 - Part hair from ear to ear Step 3 - Plait ... continue reading...
French Braid to a Braided Ponytail Video
I've done this style several times on Bee lately and decided it was time to make a quick video of it. After it was all done, I realized it's very close to this old post I did last year. But that doesn't matter because I like this version better! Ha! The pic on the left is from when I made the video. The one on the right I did a Dutch (inverted) French braid on top and really loosened the braid up before adding it into the ponytail. I think I like that look the best! Or you can have an ... continue reading...
Puffy Braids to a Braid
This simple style is a cute little one that Bug's friend Maitlyn wore to church a while back. It's perfect for a day full of play at school as well as church. It was such a fun style & perfect for the length of Bug's hair. This really is a great style for any type of hair or for any age. If you've got a toddler this would be a great one to keep all those different lengths of hair in check. Step 1 - Make a center part Make a part from the center of the forehead clear back to the nape ... continue reading...
